"No More Sweet Nothings"
June 18, 2013

Woke up hearing “When I was your Man” by Bruno Mars … it’s a pretty song … I don’t often hear it cause I don’t have radio and Pandora doesn’t often play it. However, it was playing in my ears this morning, and it fit the melancholy mood that is going along with it. Romance really is that easy isn’t it? You just buy or pick someone some flowers, hold their hand, talk for hours about silly easy things … go dancing, cook good food, snaggle. But sometimes the little things end up being the hardest or the last things you do.

No more sweet nothings,
you now yell and shout
Instead of flowers,
you argue about …
the money you don’t have
the cooking that’s not good
the things that you could have done
the things that you should
you don’t read each other poetry
you don’t go out to dance
and it all just becomes something
opposite of romance
you don’t stay up late
and talk into the night
cause when you share your feelings
it only leads to fights
Eventually you grow apart
The way that Lovers do
When the effort becomes too much
To be in Love with you.

Don’t know where that just came from … I was working on math (just barely) and came back to this journal it’s 3:50am now and was writing about how one can fall out of romance and then it started rhyming and that poem now exists. It’s a sweet poem but sad … like the mood this morning … feelings can write good poetry and stories and songs.
